Lichen: Sign of Life

Ever seen this greenish grey thing on a tree? You might think that it's a kind of fungus that we should remove. Hummm, actualy lichen consists of 2 symbionts: fungus and algae. They cannot avoid pollution, so their existance proves how clean the air in the area where you find them.

And as a matter of fact lichen only grows 1 mm - 1 cm / year! So please, let them grow…

From Browsing to Drowsing.

Taken in an express train by Roe. It did not take time for him to ignore his paper and to decide to leave out all the rest for a while.
Sometimes even a short break could boost me even better after dog-tiring days. What about you?

Welcome

This photo was taken with my handphone. I took it in Gerbang Depan ITB, near ATM BNI while there was an event called Pagelaran Seni Budaya.

Those letters are written in several Bahasa Daerah, mean 'Welcome' :)

Luck?

To Christopher in The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-Time (novel), the number of red car he sees in a day, shows his fortune on that day. So, the more red cars he sees, the luckier he's gonna be.

What if we see 3 bicycles in a row like these, Christopher?

CK's Birthday

Birthday??? Wow, it means party! Yay! But, what if you have 3 ( or I heard it was actually 4 ) different parties in a year just to celebrate a single birthday?

Hohoho, that's what happened when I dropped myself to Tasaka-san's place today. I met CK and when I apologized for wishing her birthday so late, she told me that she's actually throwing a small party there.

Oowww a coincidence? It is. Maybe because I missed the previous parties kkk. And God wants me to enjoy CK's birthday party (yes, only one party for me).

Everybody enjoys the cake, but nobody knows how does it feel to be "18" like CK :D

Happy birthday, Sister! May your days filled with joy and happiness <3 and let's make it true: a spoonful of cakes for everyone every month :p

Fair Black And White

Hohoho, I've posted Igo last time, now let me post chess :) I simply love the pins (?) they look so fat and cute :p. And do you realize that the board is not black and white but plainly green instead? It's good to know that it has grid lines in it ehehe.

When i captured this pic, one of the player invited me to join. Ha? Me?? Chess??? I'm not good at chess, you're gonna get bored soon since I will lose so soon. :D

Big Can of Cans

I was kinda surprised seeing a big and long lines a few meters from the shuttle bus lines. They changed the bus stop? No no… there was this expensive car parked in front of the cafetaria ★

Whadda??? And there was also a man, pouring some sort of liquid out from the big can into a small cups. There was also a girl who passed those cups to some students who had spent their time lining.

Even A Bigger Heart

Not a very wide screen, let's say. But even the largest plasma TV in Yodobashi Camera cannot display big and warm hearts. So, how is this screen supposed to do so? Then, who knows? It's only your heart. Because hearts do not need any screen to display them. The world already knows those hearts by heart. So, open your heart for those who love.

Cakeset at Cafetaria (roeutena)

My wisdom teeth teach me to be wise. Lol. Yep, they're growing and somehow make my jaws hurt when I try to open them for more than 2 cm.
It's hard to eat, yawn, sneeze, scream, laugh, and also to brush them. I almost cry if I have to brush those wisdom teeth.
Huh, they're wise enough to let me eat super soft things like milk, porridge, AND CAKES!!! Hehehe, they have sold cakes at cafetaria since last Dec. Kinda cheap and big. Kinda. That's nice to have an excuse to eat cakes twice a day :p. But, it scares me to imagine that later I will have to brush the sweets from my teeth until the deepest part >.<

Tulip (roeutena)

Who doesn't know that Netherland is famous for its tulips, as well as Japan is famous for its sakura (cherry blossom)?
So, somehow I had the impression that flowers like tulips will never exist in Japan. But guess, right after I came to Japan three years ago I proved myself wrong. :p
You can claim something comes from your country/origin. But is it wrong if it can adapt in different places? Can't I say, "I saw Japanese tulips yesterday!"?
*google for "Burung kakak tua" will inform you that it's a Malaysian folk song. Well, I grew up in Indonesian family and sang it very well before entering kindergarden without even knowing anything about Malaysia…

Daikon Crackers (roeutena)

One day I went to supermarket and saw daikon (Japanese radish) was really cheap. Knowing that daikon is good for stomach, and I thought I have nothing to lose to give it a try, then I went home with a huge daikon in my eco bag.

The problem? I had no idea what to do with daikon. I decided to YouTube "daikon recipe". I knew I should have used Japanese keywords… Anyways, this one looks pretty easy #750 Daikon Crackers (TDES Original) http://youtu.be/svxvhdtGmLA

I know… I'm too lazy to peel, instead I cut the skin. That's why you can see the cutting edge daikon lol (I'm actually use the word cutting edge rofl)
Well, I like how the taste miso, avocado, and sesame combined. And I actually like the sensation when I bite the "daikon crackers". It's just that… the taste of raw daikon was too raw for me T.T

I'd substitute it with the real crackers next time :p

Attacking Your Blacks (roeutena)

No… I'm not being racist or something. I'm capturing pictures :p anyway, one day I caught a couple (yes, a couple) of guys playing a Japanese traditional game, Igo. If you've ever heard Hikaru No Go/Hikago or whatsoever they call it, this hand and the way it holds the white stone should be familiar to you. It's not only the strategy, but also about the beauty. (no offense why I only took the hand, kidding :p)

Hanshin Tigers Fan! (roeutena)

So… yes Hanshin is one of private Kobe-Osaka train transportation company. Later the train company itself joined Hankyu Railway. Anyway, this company supports a baseball team: Hanshin Tigers. So, yes you can see the tigers as a car, jacket, hat(?), and even something that hanging on the rearview mirror. Japanese people (not all tho) are quite crazy about baseball. You can find many comics telling stories about baseball. And yes, I forgot to mention that Hanshin also has a department store! So guess if Hanshin Tigers wins… WOW! Sales on Hashin department stores! Well, of course department stores in Japan are not really friend with students huhuhu T.T. But, maybe you should try your luck on a day when Hanshin wins :) Who knows... :d

The world of only two (roeutena)

Taken in a shopping street nearby. It was really difficult to take the picture from close (imagine a foreigner like me stalking two teenagers with a red cell phone). Forgive me for the bad resolution. I took it with my normal-resolution-cell phone, and I cropped it in the name of art :D For you, dorama fans who have never been to Japan, you won't believe that, those scenes of couples in school uniform (sometimes with accessories like bicycles or umbrella) are everywhere! For you who are living in Japan, you might find this kind of things are not particularly special. But anyway, for them, it is the world of only two...

So close, when I'm with you.

3 in 2: Spoon and fork as Chopstick (roeutena)

It is common to carry lunch box to school/work in Japan. It is also familiar to see compact and convenient yet well-designed lunch boxes and the other supporting the needs in shopping centers. Like what i found in Loft Namba. Spoon and fork that come in handy, if you are thinking about using My-Hashi (google it). Needless to mention that environmentally friendly reusable things are Japanese people's best friends. Anyway, these spoon-fork-chopsticks are amazing! I don't know whether they are easy to use or not but it is so creative and interesting, that they always have the ideas to the invention for a better(?) life :p
